Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Search engine optimization is being talked about a lot by those having websites. Why wouldn’t they? It is the key on having a successful website. Most sites get their visitors through search engines such as Google and Yahoo so it is important that these sites rank well in these search engines as well.

SEO is mainly distributed to two major parts which is the on-site optimization and the off-site optimization. On-site optimization is the first step of SEO and should be done properly so that the off-site optimizations would work much more effectively.

Meta tags are very important so that search engine will be able to know what the site is all about. The description field allows user to describe what their site is all about. However, do not write in great length and be sure to be as concise as possible.

Keywords on the other hand, are important so that search engine knows to which keyword they would assign a specific site to. There are various sites that may help with this and some examples are WordTracker and Google Adwords Keywords Tool.

Images also have their importance in the search engine. It is best to fill in the alt section as well as the title section whenever there is a need on posting photos. Through this method, search engines will still be able to figure out what the images are about and thus index them at a relevant keyword.

All of these processes here may be tedious but after a while, users will get used to it. Remember that proper SEO is what it takes to drive any site to great distance so it is best to work hard for it. All the hard work will certainly pay off it is done well.
