Some Facts about Internet Marketing

March 9th, 2010

A website or an online product will not go anywhere without Internet marketing. Besides SEO, it is one of the most important factors to a successful website and without any of it being done, there is no way that a website or a product can compete in the market.

One important fact is about Internet marketing is that it may be one of the cheapest form of marketing on the planet. This is because through Internet marketing, the marketer will not only get people of a certain place to notice about the product that is being marketed but they can get the whole world to notice about the product. That is why major companies are marketing their products through the Internet. Not only that it is cheaper, they can get a large audience as well.

It is impossible to read about Internet marketing from A to Z in a book. Internet marketing is like science. There are smaller branches of it and believe it or not, there are people who specialize in these smaller branches of Internet marketing as well.

A good thing about Internet marketing is that there are ways of measuring the success of it. This includes clicks, amount of visitors to a website, the number of sales and many more. If a marketer isn’t keeping track of this, then he or she will be losing a sizable amount of data.

Factors to Consider While Redesigning

March 8th, 2010

Redesigning a website can either bring joy or sadness to a site owner. Why joy? This is because with a proper site redesign, it can bring a lot of new visitors to the website. It can also bring sadness if the redesign messes up with the search engine optimization that has already been made to the website.

An important factor to consider while redesigning a website is to get ready with all the 301 redirects. This must be done to all URLs that need to be changed while redesigning the website. Not only will this help with SEO but it also reduces the chance of a visitor stumbling to a 404 page.

Next is to install all analytics code inside the website. May it be Google Analytics or any other type of analytics that the user has in mind, install it as soon as possible so that it can track what is going on outside of the website. Users can see any faults that they may have had during the redesign with the help of analytics as well.

A website with a high-traffic or has a lot of visitors coming in should make sure that most of the highly used features are still accessible by the visitors.

Canonicalize the website by redirecting the traffic from the non-www to the www version of the website or vice versa. Search engines such as Google tend to think of the two versions as a separate entity and unless the site owner wants to get penalized for duplicate contents and such, it may be best to do the redirect.

Remember to stick to the 5 seconds rule. Make sure that the main information is accessible within 5 seconds and if it takes longer than that, site owners may find themselves having a high bounce rate.

Youtube Videos Have 500% Chance of Hitting Page 1 on Google

March 5th, 2010

It is noticeable that whenever a user keys in a term to search on a search engine, particularly Google, there will be at least a few links to YouTube. This happens to a lot of keywords and what this relates to is that for a keyword that is moderately to less competitive, it may be a lot easier to get noticed through a Youtube video instead of an optimized page.

This was pointed out by Matt Balleck on a recent study made by Forrester. It stated that a well optimized Youtube video is 500% more likely to show up on the first page of Google instead of a page or a website that is well optimized.

However, this may be limited to keywords that Google do offer video results and most often than not, there will be video results to a lot of keywords as well.

So, head on to the local studio and start shooting some videos for YouTube.

A blog can be installed within minutes with the right host and the right type of application. However, there are choices to think about before choosing the right content management system for the blog itself.

First off, think of the things that need to be available on the blogs. Will there be any videos that need to be uploaded? Or will there only be text and pictures. Do you also need a plugin to put the advertisement in place and is it achievable with the content management system?

Installing Wordpress in Fantastico would be a fast and painless experience. Another good example would be Scriptaculous. These two applications would handle all of the installing themselves and all there is to be done is a few clicks on the mouse.

Types of Advertising that Would Suit the Target Segment

March 1st, 2010

Target segments play a big role in marketing and advertising. It allows the right type of promotion and advertising to be made. Target segment can be divided to various categories such as age, sex, income type and many more. Every word that can be used to identify a group of people can be a target segment.

There are a lot of types of advertising available both online and offline. Some examples of the types of online advertising are Pay-Per-Click advertising, video advertisement, viral advertising and many more. In some cases, online advertising can be a lot cheaper as compared with offline advertising but it has to be done properly as well.

For example, a gaming company or website shouldn’t advertise in a fashion website. Even if they spend millions of dollars in advertising on that website, it would not profit them as much as compared with a site that is related in that industry. Some examples are but not limited to gaming news website and gaming forums.

However, in some cases where there will be little to no cost at all such as posting advertising videos to video websites such as Youtube or Metacafe, it is possible to target a wide audience.

Before advertising on any website or channels, it may be best to find out the options or the place where the target audience are prominent. Such examples are forums related to the topic, blogs and many more. Once this is identified, only then can a company choose to advertise.
